Saíra-militar (Tangara cyanocephala)
English name: Red-necked Tanager

It measures between 10 and 13 centimetres in length and weighs between 16 and 21 grams.
It has an obvious bright red stripe around its neck and a metallic blue crown on the top of its head. In females, the red stripe is more muted, tending towards a cinnamon colour. The body is a uniform shade of green, with a black back and yellow stripe on the green wing feathers. Birds from populations in southern Brazil tend to have a body size above the average of 11 centimetres in length. On the other hand, the military petrels of the north-east are smaller, with a body size below the standard average.
