I woke up at 3:20 a.m. Left sleeping Durbaszka hut a quarter of an hour later. Spent the next forty minutes tromping along the march to the summit of Wysoka (Vysoké Skalky). The forecasts were pessimistic (80% of the sky obscured by clouds of every kind) but I was still hoping for a piece of luck. After all, I am a frequent visitor to the Pieniny Mountains and, as such, I hoped for the favour of the deities who have taken this area under their protection. I was pleased that they had apparently noticed me and included me in their plans.
I admit that I managed to take this particular shot at the last minute. I was busy looking at the mountain ranges from the other side of the rocky outcrop. Fortunately, the raspberry ribbon knotted on the slopes of the Belianske Tatras by the rays of the rising sun was still hanging on...
