Over nine years of struggle, the Saraí Public Defense campaign mobilized thousands of people in the city and state, becoming a symbol in the fight against real estate speculation and the right to popular housing in downtown Porto Alegre / RS - Brazil. This essay aims to introduce some of the residents of Occupation Saraí, inserted in the spaces in which they occupy. Currently the 24 families residing there seek from the government to conclude the expropriation process, which was aborted by the current State Government.
