Carabus nemoralis is a European ground beetle likely introduced to Québec through horticultural trade. Despite being flightless, it has spread widely, with over 50 known localities, including Chicoutimi. Active from spring to fall, it preys on slugs and earthworms, making it ecologically useful in gardens and agriculture. Its exact introduction date remains unknown, and some researchers question whether it should still be considered non-native.
