Xylotrechus sagittatus is a rare longhorn beetle found in Quebec and eastern Canada. It lives in dead wood and is seldom seen. Its rarity stems from limited distribution, specific habitat needs, and scarce data. Entomologists are intrigued by its striking appearance and elusive nature. It was considered lost for more than 50 years before being rediscovered by chance in Quebec, in an old pile of wood.
