Windswept

Nancy Rice

I almost didn\'t turn the car around. But I did. I was driving from Amarillo, TX out towards our place in Armstrong County on May 29th. The skies were overcast - full of dramatic clouds, and I noticed a particularly vibrant and dense patch of yellow wildflowers off the side of the road. There really weren\'t any other patches of flowers anywhere nearby, and there also happened to be a gorgeous group of horses hanging out in that exact spot. Incredible, right? I was feeling uncharacteristically lazy that day, and I was really enjoying the music in my car. I tried to tell myself that I probably wouldn\'t get great photos if I stopped. But the inner voice of reason yelled at me to go back. I mean, come on...it was all perfect! I pulled off, spoke gently as I approached the fence, and the curious herd actually came closer, eventually coming all the way to the fence.
