Alright! Starting the week with a photo! Let me introduce you to this little one, a night monkey (Aotus), the only primate in the Americas that’s active at night. I found him peeking out from a little hole in the tree where he lives with his family. As soon as I arrived, about four of them ran off, but this one stayed there, staring at me with the cutest curious face, like he was trying to figure out what I was doing there. I don’t know there was something magical in his gaze, in the way he looked at me. I was honestly enchanted.
Sadly, this species is classified as vulnerable, mainly due to habitat loss, deforestation, and illegal wildlife trafficking.
Every time I see them, I’m reminded why I do this. Because if we don’t show what we have… how are we going to protect it?
